Lucid Glassing Australia

Premium Surfboards & Foilboards

Lucid Glassing is a high-end surfboard factory located just outside Byron Bay, NSW - Australia, specialised in EPS, epoxy and carbon vacuum bag construction.

With over 55 years of combined board-building experience, our team brings together the precision of traditional craftsmanship with the innovation of modern surfboard technology.

We are Australia's exclusive licensee of Dark Arts Surf - the pioneers of carbon vacuum bag surfboards in the United States.

About us

At Lucid Glassing, we believe in quality over quantity. Every board is a unique piece of craftsmanship, built to perform at the highest level with durability and responsiveness in mind. We work closely with surfers who demand longevity in their quiver, as well as shapers seeking a trusted construction partner.

Over the years, we’ve collaborated with some of the industry’s most respected names, including Peter McCabe, Phil Myers, Wayne Webster, Maurice Cole, Dylan Perese, Greg Webber, Mitchell Rae, and George Greenough. These projects have spanned everything from high-performance shortboards to big-wave guns and groundbreaking experimental designs.

We’re always looking to work with new shapers and brands, applying our construction methods to bring out the best in every design and ensure each board performs at its peak.

Our vision

At Lucid Glassing, our vision is to push surfboard construction forward while staying true to the craft that defines the industry. We believe the future of surfboards lies in combining precision hand-building with cutting-edge materials and processes, delivering next-generation gear that sets new standards in performance, strength, and responsiveness.

By working in small batches, we preserve the surfer–shaper connection to ensure every board reflects uncompromising craftsmanship, distinguishing ourselves from mass production. Our vacuum-bag glassing process removes excess resin to reduce weight and presses the laminate under even pressure, sandwiching the carbon/fibreglass layers to create stronger, lighter, performance-driven boards.

By combining cutting-edge techniques with unmatched craftsmanship, Lucid Glassing is redefining the benchmark in carbon surfboard and foilboard construction, delivering boards built with the highest care, precision, and quality.

By leading carbon vacuum bag construction and working with some of the world’s most progressive shapers, we are advancing the next generation of surfcraft.

Our goal is to lead the movement toward stronger, lighter, longer-lasting boards that stay alive under your feet - boards that carry the same spark on the hundredth wave as they did on the first.

Amos Barriskill

Amos is the driving force behind Lucid Glassing, bringing vision, leadership, and a deep passion for surfboard building to the business. Known for his precision and high standards, he has built a reputation as one of the leading craftsmen in carbon surfboard construction in Australia.

Amos began shaping and glassing boards in his teens on the NSW North Coast and has since amassed over 15 years of hands-on experience across every part of the board-building process. His time experimenting with foils and alternative materials led him to carbon, where he recognised the potential to create lighter, stronger, more responsive boards. Thanks to his expertise, Lucid Glassing is the only licensed Dark Arts facility in Australia.

Amos continues to refine his craft and guide his team with a focus on innovation, performance, and lasting quality. His leadership ensures that every board leaving the factory reflects both technical expertise and a genuine dedication to the craft. His expertise and commitment have led to Lucid Glassing becoming the only licensed Dark Arts surfboard factory in Australia.

Amos is also the founder of Amos Shapes, his own line of carbon foilboards built at Lucid, which pioneers progressive designs, innovative shapes, and premium builds.
