The Alpha 88 is designed for poor to average surf conditions but still comes alive when the waves improve. Shaped by Gunther Rohn and built by Lucid Glassing, this small wave board delivers speed, drive, and responsiveness, making it a reliable everyday performer.
A full nose provides lift and planing power without compromising performance, while thin chamfered rails ensure quick rail-to-rail transitions. The bottom contour features a moderate double concave into concave V, paired with flat entry and tail rockers for rapid acceleration and snappy turns. A wider nose with flatter entry boosts planing speed across soft sections, while the winged wide tail creates a natural pivot point for tight arcs in beach breaks and short waves. The flat deck lowers the centre of gravity for added stability and drive, while contributing extra volume - best ordered about 1/8" thinner than your standard dims.
The Alpha 88 blends speed, manoeuvrability, and flow into an adaptable small-wave surfboard. Designed for everyday use in waves up to 4–5 feet, it’s a dependable go-to when conditions are less than perfect.
